In 2005, popular California graffiti artist David Choe was asked by Facebook’s, then President, Sean Parker to paint murals in the Palo Alto office. Mr. Choe was given the choice to be paid ‘a few thousand dollars’ in cash or stock options worth roughly the same. Initially thinking that the social networking concept was ridiculous and destined to fail, he still decided to take the stock options as compensation. With yesterday’s announcement of Facebook going public, the already accomplished artist stands to make nearly $200 million.
